USA: Las Vegas (Nevada)

Let’s take a break from the  rocks and the national parks. Our trip from Denver to San Francisco also included Las Vegas. Why do people go to Las Vegas? It’s obvious… to “admire” the  surrounding kitsch, to lose some money in countless casinos, to watch crazy, colorful and form-overdosed cabarets, to party, and  – like in the film “Hangover” –  to wake up the following morning after a crazy night out with a headache and…  a problem (read more).

I had a two day stop over in Vegas on my way to Grand Canyon. I am not into party or gambling or anything this city can offer me. But in spite of it, for some reason, I liked this strip. Because I could sit alone and watch the people going crazy around me and it was a sure fun thing to do.

I love Vegas, but mostly because I love the dining, lights, and fabulous hotels. The history behind Las Vegas is legendary mobster stuff which to me is also fascinating. I always make my way into Red Rock Canyon when I go as well. There’s a lot to uncover beneath the surface that is for certain x
